Ramblings from GW

I'm now using assorted web journals to capture my ramblings. I'm signed up on LiveJournal and Diaryland. Stop me before I journal again! Go here(blogspot) or here(diaryland) or here(livejournal)to read it.

I'm moving to Arizona! "At least it's a dry heat!" In just a few short weeks, I'll be leaving the beauty of the Colorado mountains for the beauty of the Arizona desert. A new chapter begins to unfold.

  • Two weeks and I'm still unpacking. At least the kitchen and bedroom are mostly done. Now I just need to find the cables and power cords for our entertainment system (we have a DVD player, surround sound and 46" HDTV). We had the satellite system installed (we tried digital cable but the signal was simply not as good as satellite). The computers are mostly unpacked. Need to get the printer hooked up, the rest of the software unpacked & shelved and find a place to put all the old software and books we don't use. I guess that means I need to clear out the storage room and repack it. *sigh* Good thing I don't need to work right now. No Worldcon this year unless a miracle occurs and we get the house in Denver sold soon. I need to find the local sf fan group and contact the local SCA group. Even though I consider myself an introvert, I'm feeling the need to be social! At least to have conversation with something other than Lance and my cats.

  • *Gaah* I really need to keep up with this. 'Kay. So Jay had a heart attack and the world got a little wobbly there for a while. I just don't know what I'd do without my sweet baboo. He's back at work now. No cigs since That Day. We've changed our diet to include more fresh veggies and fruit and a lot less red meat. Also being a lot more conscious about sodium. And we had a lovely walk in the park which I hope we will do on a regular basis once Jay's leg heals up (he managed to pull a tendon while in the hospital). I was touched by all the support and caring messages we both received from our net.friends and acquaintances. It really helped me through the dark bits. We got an offer on the house for our asking price even. *yippee* Unfortunately, it's contingent on the buyer selling his property. We're shooting for closing in Oct. We're planning on visiting friends around the signing date, maybe go to MileHiCon if the timing is right.
Ah well, I can look to the future now. I think the scary bit is over. I really don't like this time of year (even though my birthday is coming up). I've been thinking so much about my mom. I should do a memorial page for her and my dad and my brother, Donald. More later.

  • Twitterpated. Yup, I have a crush. I feel giddy and silly and all that stuff. *sigh* It all started 3 years ago at a con. It was only a brief meeting but I found him to be interesting and smart and entertaining. Then a few brief emails were exchanged. Then nothing for almost 2 years. And now, more email. I'll savor it while I can because I know it won't last. He's very busy and has an entire life of his own to live. I haven't said anything about the crush feelings (I have indulged in some flirting, though). I don't want to jeopardize our growing friendship. So, I think about him and wait eagerly to see his name pop up in my inbox. Think I'll just revel in the warm glow for as long as it lasts. *smile*
